Each of the orphanages listed here has a different institutional history, but they all eventually merged with the Jewish Child Care Association of New York. AJHS holdings include the following:

• Brooklyn Hebrew Orphan Asylum, I-230: Holdings include admission and discharge records, 1879-1960. FHD: 1879-1953; A: 1879-1933.
• Hebrew Orphan Asylum of the City of New York, I-42: Holdings include admission applications, 1871--1924 and admission and discharge records, 1862-1941. FHD: Index of Children, 1860-1900; A: 1860-1934.
• Hebrew Infant Asylum of the City of New York, I-166: Holdings include admission and discharge records, 1895-1927. A: 1895-1908.
• Hebrew Sheltering Guardian Society of New York, I-43: Holdings include admission and discharge records, 1907-1942. A: 1884-1925.
• Home for Hebrew Infants, I-232: Holdings include admission and discharge records, 1922-1943.  A: 1922-1937.

NOTE: Physical records dated after 1925 are restricted for privacy reasons.
