The following collections consist of duplicates of records held by the New York County Clerk’s Division of Old Records (31 Chambers Street, 7th Floor), in which the litigants had Jewish-sounding names. They include:

FHD; A: Mayor’s Court Briefs, 1686-1837 (records are viewable, but not searchable), Selected Naturalization Documents, 1816-1845, Insolvent Debtors Cases, 1787-1861 (records are viewable, but not searchable).

Leo Hershkowitz Collection of Court Records, I-545: consists of affidavits, complaints, and various orders filed in New York City, arranged in chronological order, 1835-1910. This includes cases of divorce, naturalization, business and estate disputes, and petitions for guardianship, among a variety of other lawsuits. This collection has not yet been indexed or digitized.
