Subject Matter

The newspapers listed in this guide are a sampling of partner collections that either specialize in or feature content on the American response to the Holocaust. They are organized in alphabetical order by title and include description on the paper's language and place of publication. Our partners' collections contain over 20,000 unique periodicals in print and others on microfilm, and represent over 50 languages including German, Yiddish, French, Russian, and Polish.

Historical Significance

These newspapers provide unique historical points of view related to the response of the American press on events of the Holocaust. Our partners' collection materials include both local and national publications documenting responses from many social, political, and religious opinions on this event, as well as the events leading up to and those occurring well after.

Access and Discovery

The links on the next few pages of this guide will bring you to our online catalog, where you can request items to view in our Reading Room. Before requesting materials, please create an online user account at libraryservices.cjh.org/aeon

NOTE: Many of the physical newspapers held in our partners' collections are oversized, old, or fragile. Because of this, many of them have been digitized so that they do not deteriorate further. If you are unsure about what kind of material you are requesting or what to expect when your materials arrive from our stacks, please speak to a librarian during your visit, or email them at inquiries.cjh.org with any questions.
