Colonel Seymour Pomrenze papers (P-933)

Pomrenze joined the United States Army and in February 1946, he was appointed as the first head of the Offenbach Archival Depot (OAD), the central collection point for cultural materials looted from throughout Nazi-occupied Europe by the Einsatzstab Reichsleiter Rosenberg (ERR). After his discharge, Pomrenze returned to Washington, DC and worked for NARA (1947-1949) and for the Army (1950-1977) as a records manager. After his retirement from the Army in 1977, he became a full-time records management consultant, primarily to Jewish organizations. His clients included the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society (HIAS), the Jewish Welfare Board (JWB), Federation Employment Guidance Services (FEGS), the Joint Distribution Committee (JDC), and the UJA-Federation of New York (UJA).

Council of Jewish Federations and Welfare Funds records (I-69)

This collection contains the archives of the Council of Jewish Federations and Welfare Funds, a national coordinating agency that assists national and regional Jewish agencies in the U.S. and Canada in fundraising, community organization, health and welfare planning, public relations, etc. 

Ernest W. Michel Papers (P-901)

This collection contains the papers of Ernest W. Michel, Holocaust Survivor Journalist and public speaker,including clippings of newspaper articles written by and about Michel, correspondence between Michel and many important Jewish and political figures and autograph files, which Michel collected. Many of these files concern Michel’s Holocaust experiences, speaking engagements, the World Gathering of Jewish Holocaust Survivors, and Michel’s work with the United Jewish Appeal.

Judith A. Manelis papers (P-970)

The collection contains the papers of Judith A. Manelis, the Executive Director of the Communications Department of the United Jewish Appeal-Federation of New York. The papers pertain to the UJA-Federation Campaign for Soviet Jewish Emigres.

Philip Bernstein Papers (P-877)

The papers of Jewish civic leader Philip Bernstein contain writings and professional papers related to his career with the Council of Jewish Federations and Welfare Funds, including his participation in the establishment of the National Foundation for Jewish Culture and the National Jewish Community Relations Council, and his work with many other Jewish communal organizations, including the Jewish Agency for Israel, the Joint Distribution Committee, the United Jewish Appeal, and the Federation of Jewish Philanthropies of New York.
